Cycling advice 8 from 'The Master'

N.C.C.C.C. 8

Over the next few weeks you will be concentrating on 30-35 mile runs. These will be your base runs, the foundations on which you hope to build.

Take some time to plan yourself out some 30-35 mile circuits or talk to some of the local Island Wheelers and they will outline several circuits for you. Ideally your circuit should have a shop somewhere between 15-20 miles and you will plan a 10-15minute stop here.

Make your first 30-35 mile circuit a relatively flat one. Cycle steady trying to keep your energy output fairly level and look forward to the shop stop.

Liathróid Láimhe | Handball
Handball in the Hall each Wed. Times are 7-8pm for Primary and 8-9pm Post-primary and adults. £1 each. Bring water. Fáilte roimh chách. All welcome. Here is an update from An Branach:

Tiarnan Duffy is making his way right back up the ladder after a couple of good weeks in a row where he hasn't lost in 11 games.

We have also seen the return of Gavin McCullagh who has picked straight up from his consistent run last year to get up to third place in the ladder. Unbeaten on 26th Feb were Tiarnan, Gavin, Cormac Hamilton, Nicole Murphy and George Byrne. At the other end of the luck scale were the frustrated Eoin Skeffington and Conor Devlin who had the added pressure of being assessed for PE exams for GCSEs.

At primary level really intense competition has developed between mates Patrick Purvis, Shane Gates , Brian Hughes , Shane Hughes and Jake Dillon. Special mention to Caoimhe Salmon for her endeavour, maith an cailín
