NCC 2-6 Éire Óg 0-7
The U14s travelled to Tearmann Mhig Oirc on Mon 18th April last for their fourth league game. Played on the big meadow, the lads worked very hard to win this game with the defence outstanding from the first whistle to the last. The goals came via Seán Timlin (4th min), who was the Cilles man of the match and Ciarán McCabe (43rd min). The first was a bounce lob that deceived the keeper and the second was a rush in on a broken ball to kick to the net. It was a best performance so far this season and will lift confidence in the team. An Charraig Mhór came back very strongly in the second period after being 1-5 to 0-1 behind at half-time and it took tremendous defensive efforts from the likes of Ciarán McNulty, Fintan McClure, Lee Talbot and young Conor Doyle in goals to lift the siege. The forwards as a unit worked much harder in the first half than the second with young Oisín Ó Néill lively in the corner. Michael Murray scored a nice point in the first half and Ciarán McCabe was alert for the crucial second goal.
