Hurling Mentor Seminar/Coaching Day

A strong group of club coaches and U10s took part in the first hurling mentors day at Killyclogher with Paudie Butler and Liam Sheedy. It was a very worthwhile experience and as always plenty of food for thought. All hurling clubs in the county were present in good numbers.

U6s and U8s

The clubs youngest players travelled to Lavey on Fri evening for games with Erins Own. Played in the magnificent indoor arena, the little lads and lasses revelled in an hours flat out hurling in front of a large group of parents. Reports from the same parents on both sides told of the excitement of the children regarding the 'big match' for days leading up to it.

Anti-Litter Walk

The sponsored anti-litter walk has been put back to Sun 3rd June at 12noon from Clochóg.

NCC 2-2 Éire Óg 2-2

NCC 2-1 Eoghain Ruadh 3-10

Final to decide 2nd Tyrone Team for National Féile in Dublin: NCC 0-0 Éire Óg 1-0

The Cilles had an agonising Féile on May 7 Bank Holiday Monday at Killyclogher. An Charraig Mhór proved to be our nemesis on the day. In the first game, the Cilles led for the full game until an Éire Óg goal in the last stroke of the game 2mins into extra time levelled it.

The lads then put up a brave fight against a big, skilful Eoghain Ruadh side that would be one of the best in Ulster. Score difference meant that the Cilles qualified second and thus awaited the winners of the Éire Óg and Droim Mór (Grade 2 Champions) in the runners up final.

In a fiercely contested game, the Cilles were left to rue a dominant first half were they shot 1-3 wide. On a rare Carmen attack they earned a free 35m from the goal. The ball was struck for a point but dipped at the last into the Cilles net. This was to be the only score of the match. In the second half, Éire Óg blocked and harried impressively to frustrate the Cilles in their efforts for the equaliser. All in all, the team and management were dejected at the finish but they cannot be faulted for their efforts. This was a lesson in the fervour that is championship hurling and hopefully learning will come out of it.

For this spectator, Dan Talbot at full back and Mitchell Ó Néill at half back were outstanding throughout.

Best of luck to Dún Geanainn and An Charraig Mhór at the National Féile na nGael in Dublin. Our own lads done enough to earn a club coaching trip to Tulach an Iarainn, Co Phort Láirge later in the summer.
