The summer camp concluded on Thurs 14th July  with over 50 children enjoying the sunshine and hurling at a well groomed Páirc Chlochóg. Coaches for the week included All Ireland Minor Medallist with Offaly in 1986 Declan Sherlock, Irish Camogie International Aisling Corr, Ulster Coaching Director for Tyrone and Donegal Michael Glover and local coaches Eithne O Neill, Mickey Hardwall O Neill and Paul McKeown.

A word of thanks to Henry for having the grounds in excellent shape as well as Anne for provided tea and refreshments for the coaches on each of the 4 days.

A very successful annual summer VHI Cúl Camp took place at Clochóg last week (Mon 12th to Thurs 15th July) and upwards on 60 youngsters aged 7 to 14 enjoyed expert tuition from Micheal Glover (CLG Chomhairle Uladh), Cormac McHugh (Oiliúna Iománaíocht Thír Eoghain), George Byrne (Oigeach na n-Óg NCC agus oiliúna Thír Eoghain),  , Eithne O Neill (Oiliuna Camógaíocht Thír Eoghain) and Paul Maguire (Oiliúna Iománaíocht Thír Eoghain agus NCC). Thursday was the big day for presentations with the players and parents delighted with the new kitbags, strip and most important of all - the hurley!

At a sun-drenched Páirc Chlochóg last Saturday 12th June 2010, NCC enjoyed a fantastic club occasion with over 100 hurlers and club patrons enjoying a brilliant early mid summers Corn Gharraí Uí Dhuifinn.

The buzz lasted from 9.30am right through to the early hours of the next day "oíche go maidin" and the bar was raised again in terms of participation and festivities. On the hurling field, there was much to take in. Dernagh 'Doire an Átha' took the field in a resplendent pink strip - it must be a first for the GAA. Domo Duffin hopped off a flight from England, quickly donned the Lower Annagher 'Eanachar Íochtarach' geansaí (jersey) and after 15mins hurling his poor ankles couldn't take it so he had to retire!

All the teams held their own and the penalty shootout between the Loughshore and Lr Annagher to decide the finalist was a novel scenario. Dernagh lifted the cup for the second time, defeating a Loughshore team who I'm sure will make sure there is no 'Strictly Come Dancing' clash next year. The hurling was good and enjoyable in the 'Gary' but I have doubts if it exceeded the contest the u12s produced. The youngsters produced a thrilling exhibition and they revelled in the attention of the big crowd present.

The food was top class during the day not forgetting the BBQ/Disco Presentation where the craic was mighty into the wee hours. Trojan efforts went into organising the event by the tournament sub committee and anyone I spoke to gave the event a big thumbs up. Well done everybody and roll on next year - did I hear Treasure Island, San Francisco mentioned?

The club wishes to thank the steering & catering committee for their hard work and the tournament sponsors who helped alleviate the costs. McAvoy Group (Coalisland), Mulgrew Plumbing (San Francisco), Canning Electrics (San Francisco), DJ Paul K (Coalisland), ST Flooring (Coalisland), Washingbay Agencies (Coalisland) and Chas McCuskey (Coalisland).
