Cluichí Deireannacha| Recent Games

October is normally high stakes season in the GAA calendar throughout Ireland (and American Baseball!) and NCC have been involved in a few such games recently. The U16s took their place in the championship final after a 4-13 to 3-4 win over Na Seamróga from Strabane at Garvaghey under lights (10/10/13).The lads knuckled down to the task from the throw-in and put in a hard hours hurling. It was a good team performance with plenty of room for improvement ahead of the final against perennial contenders Dungannon.

The seniors made safe their place in the Antrim League Div 3 for 2014 last Sunday (13/10/13) following a tearaway 3-27 to 0-7 win over Naomh Treasa in Belfast. With a couple of games left against Con Magees (home) and Cushendun (away) the squad can try and move further up the table. A commendable effort has went into training recently and the turn in form is indicative of that dedication. Maith sibh and hopefully its a sign of things to come.

Finally, a very young U13 side have been playing away recently in the Derry competitions. They have had plenty of games and have been gaining good experience under their dedicated coaching team.

U16 in Championship Final

A repeat of last years final between the Cilles and Eoghan Ruadh goes ahead this Sunday at 12.30pm in nearby Edendork. A highly fancied Dún Geanainn took the title last season in Eglish after a closer than expected contest. The sides have met in the league already this season with NCC taking the laurels but its unlikely to have any bearing on the championship title this Sunday. Eoghan Ruadh have been setting the pace for Tyrone Hurling at underage for the past few years with everyone else playing catch-up. Its been a while since a hurling game in Tyrone has done justice to the ancient code with too many lop-sided contests. Hopefully both sides will rise to the occasion midday on Sunday and treat the crowd to all that is best in the National game - just like the big hurling county teams have demonstrated to the world all season. Its been 2005 since the Black & Red have lifted the U16 championship and the call goes out to all NCC supporters to come along and give the team and management the support they deserve. Go n-Éirí an t-ádh libh Na Cille.
